Selamat Hari Raya

I didn’t realize that I have been in DPA for almost 4 months since May 2009. I just realized that I’ve changed a lot in terms of personality, physical (i’m getting skinny), mentality and toughness. Well, I hate to admit, but I gotta say that DPA has changed me a lot…I didn’t believe it in the first place.. but that is what my girlfriend told me..She said i’m a much better man rite now..

Friendship is an important element in DPA. I can see there is quite a spirit called ‘kesidangan’ between all groups. Perhaps they have spent most of their time together. They are used to it. That’s why they mingle around their peers only. It is not a bad thing at all. Why? Because they have formed their bond. The bond that will last forever. DPA is only once in lifetime. Perhaps it is not wrong to say after DPA has finished, we won’t meet our friends again. So we shall enjoy the moments while it last.

Back to the square, I am still wondering whether to apply for office relocation from my current boss here. Met a superior here and I told him that I don’t practice PTD’s core at my current office and I do hope that I can practice them in the near future. Maybe a change of office would do that. I guess after raya I will meet the boss and will tell him bout my request.

I’ll be going back to Kota Bharu this afternoon with my sister. The journey will definitely takes around 10-12 hours..It’s normal during hari raya..But that’s the best thing bout hari raya.. hehe…I’d like to wish selamat hari raya to all my blog readers..Maaf zahir dan batin..Let’s enjoy the festive season…and to my DPA friends, there is only 2 months more to go…after that we are all free again..

More Creative When You’re Under Pressure

I have been given a challenging task to achieve. Well, that is expected when I have been given the role as Publishing Exco in DPA Bil. 1/2009.

The challenging task is to publish a magazine for the batch in just approximately 2 months. With tight schedule and busy task to do assignment, this task sounds impossible to be accomplished. However, I believe people will be more creative when they are under pressure. There will be a way somehow. I have to initiate it.

From the tips of Quality Leadership : A Good Leader Will Delegate and Coach (Empower) their subordinates. I have to divide the task among the committee. Thank God, from the meeting, all of the members have shown good commitment to publish the magazine. I appreciate their effort.

Another tip from Quality Leadership: Praise When It is Due… You have to praise your people for their work and if they make any mistake, let them know, be firm but polite.  Turn their weakness into their strength..

I really hope all of us can achieve the objective to publish the magazine. Tough times never last, tough people do!

Jadilah pemaaf dan suruhlah orang mengerjakan yang makruf, serta jangan pedulikan orang-orang yang bodoh. (QS. Al Qur’an, 7:199)

Dalam ayat lain Allah berfirman: “…dan hendaklah mereka memaafkan dan berlapang dada. Apakah kamu tidak suka bahwa Allah mengampunimu? Dan Allah Maha Pengampun, Maha Penyayang.” (QS. An Nuur, 24:22)

Mereka yang tidak mengikuti ajaran mulia Al Qur’an akan merasa sulit memaafkan orang lain. Sebab, mereka mudah marah terhadap kesalahan apa pun yang diperbuat. Padahal, Allah telah menganjurkan orang beriman bahwa memaafkan adalah lebih baik:

… dan jika kamu maafkan dan kamu santuni serta ampuni (mereka), maka sungguh, Allah Maha Pengampun, Maha Penyayang. (QS. At Taghaabun, 64:14)

Changing Jobscope

When I was appointed in the public service as PTD M41.. I was posted to Industry Division at Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation mainly due to my IT background and my experience at Astro and Panasonic. During that time, I didn’t mind where I’ll be posted because getting experience was far more important that time.

After 1 year ++ working at my division, I was called to undergo Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) for 6 months (until Dec 2009). I’ve been in the course for about 2 months. During this 2 months, I realize that my current jobscope at my division is not related to PTD’s core business. PTD’s core business are:

• Finance
• International Relations
• Human Resource Management
• Economy
• ICT Management
• Social and Infrastructure Management
• District/Land Management
• Security and Defence Management

What I am doing rite now is more related to industrial relations and R&D management. I wouldn’t mind doing this work in the early part of my service but I feel that sooner or later I gotta change my jobscope which is related with PTD’s core. Doing a job related to PTD’s core will help me in the future in terms of promotions and experience. I’m not going to change ministry but maybe I will change my department. I feel like changing to Human Resource Department in my Ministry. I heard there is a vacancy over there. We’ll see how when DPA is over.
