It’s time to leave
Since I started working from 2006, I always put this quote above the rest as my career guide which is “It’s time to leave when you are not learning anymore”. I’ve changed jobs for quite a few times according to this guide. I do understand why I need to leave when I’m not learning anymore, coz I don’t have the challenge anymore to drive my spirit.
Since I joined government in 2008 as PTD, i’ve remained at my first posting till today. For 3 years, I’ve learned a lot of things from this department in the area of I didn’t learn before in university. This dept deal with R&D development for the industry. Although my background is IT, I am able to learn and make myself sounds knowledgeable with the technical term here such as Renewable Energy, Nanotech, Standards etc. For all the knowledge I’ve learned here, I’m truly grateful. We work as a team for the past 3 years.
However today, I have the feeling that I am not learning anymore in this dept. Everything is more like a routine. I am simply don’t have the drive to learn and accept challenge anymore like I did for the past 3 years. This is particularly due to several issues in the division which I don’t think I’d like to disclose here. What I can say, the working environment is not the same anymore. There is no more working like a team. I’m disappointed with the environment. For that reason, I believe the time has come for me to refer back to my career guide again. It’s time to leave.I’m not learning anymore. I need to have a new challenge and new things to learn.
Don’t be afraid to make a change, don’t be content in your comfort zone. Find your new cheese!
